Type 2 Diabetes Denial Never Wins. Maybe you wonder why this strange title.
I have been in an argument, again, with a person who is type 2 diabetic and insulin-dependent.
The argument was about carbs, mainly bread and cereals. I did ask the person if she/he is aware of the carb content in these products and as a type 2 diabetic he/she should avoid them as they turn in to sugar once digested.
Silly me, I should never ask such a stupid question. Why should I avoid them? I love my sandwiches and cereals in the morning.
Well, because they do spike your glucose levels. That never bothers me, I just adjust my insulin dose and I am fine.
I feel sorry for those people, but at the same time, I’m just asking myself why?
There is a theory, maybe it is because medications are free here in the UK when you are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, but it doesn’t make any sense for US people. They pay unbelievable amounts of money for all those medications, not to mention insulin. If you have to pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars monthly, wouldn’t you want to get rid of them as soon as possible? But it seems that not even the astronomical prices for medications will not persuade them to make any changes, even if the solution is available and free.
